The Ministry of Women in the church for has for a long time attracted scholarly attention. This book investigates Paul's Gender Theology in the book of Galatians in the light of understanding contentious biblical texts and on the background of the position of women in the Greco-Roman World. The results attained are then related to wides issues about the role of women, particularly in CCAP Zambia, and divergent positions are noted. A historical critical reading of these texts, especially Gal 3:28, provides an alternative Pauline Gender Theology to achieve respect, equal opportunities and equal roles for all.

This study sheds light on the current state of history education in Africa and reflects on its potential to prepare this continent’s learners for the challenges of "learning to live together". Drawing on an examination of school curricula and the experiences of educational stakeholders, it identifies trends in the processes and outcomes of recent curricular revisions, and discerns key challenges relating to the teaching and learning of history across Africa. It scrutinises the place afforded to history within African education systems, and surveys related contents and pedagogies. While it identifies African history as a fundamental yet sensitive and controversial subject, it also illustrates examples of present-day curricular strategies to integrating a concern for promoting a "culture of peace".

This book adds significantly to the discourse surrounding the progress made in empowering women in Africa over the last decade, providing strong research evidence on diverse and timely gender issues in varied African countries. This reports focuses on a handful of natural resources: fisheries, forestry, water, fossil fuels, metals and construction minerals, and land use. It examines the driving forces of resource consumption: population and economic growth; and the pattern of development, covering technological level, economic structure and the pattern of production and consumption. European patterns of resource use are described, in both renewable and non-renewable resources. The policy responses are outlined, including the environmental impact of the important common agricultural policy, the common fisheries policy, regional development and transport and energy policies. There is a need for more policy integration to develop a coherent and efficient policy for ensuring a more sustainable use of resources. A final section on outstanding questions illustrates the problem of differing priorities amongst the various stakeholders, and presents some of the important and controversial issues which have emerged in the debate in recent years.
