Mismanaging cases and mishandling evidence can lead to acquittals of offenders which is not ideal as the aim is to deter offenders. This Handbook provides reference materials and information for trainees on training modules and content to assist them to properly manage wildlife crime cases and handle evidence in such a way that it is admissible in court and leads to the desired case outcomes. The Handbook has seven modules that address the basics of wildlife crime and wildlife laws and then delves deeper into more technical subjects of wildlife crime investigations and prosecution.
