Ayumu is confident in almost everything he does—except shogi. This wouldn’t be a problem if not for his solemn vow not to ask out his crush, the shogi club president, Urushi, until he beats her in a single game. A year has gone by and he’s still not even close. Urushi is still busy studying for her upcoming exams, leaving Rin to pursue Ayumu in earnest. Her efforts appear to be working when Ayumu ends up carrying her to the podium at the end of their school's Sports Festival after Rin accidentally injures herself. Meanwhile, Sakurako and Takeru continue to grow as a couple.

With her entrance exams finally over, Urushi gets to enjoy some much-needed time off from studying as she thinks about her future. Meanwhile, Rin comes to grips with the fact that Ayumu's heart belongs to someone else.

The members of the shogi club head to the beach as they train for their upcoming competition, but with love in the air, shogi is the last thing on everyone's minds. On the heels of Sakurako and Takeshi's engagement (?!), will Urushi finally work up the nerve to tell Ayumu how she feels?

When Sakura and Takeshi, the shogi club's delinquent members, finally share their first kiss, Urushi and Ayumu smell trouble. As things around them seem to get more and more romantic, can they both find a way to keep their true feelings secret?
