Urushi is still busy studying for her upcoming exams, leaving Rin to pursue Ayumu in earnest. Her efforts appear to be working when Ayumu ends up carrying her to the podium at the end of their school's Sports Festival after Rin accidentally injures herself. Meanwhile, Sakurako and Takeru continue to grow as a couple.

As if Urushi and Ayumu's shared club life wasn't complicated enough, now their families get involved. Ever the gentleman, Ayumu attempts to impress Urushi's father without betraying his intentions. But his strategic resolve will meet perhaps its greatest test yet...

Yaotome's the president of the shogi club at her high school, and she's pretty sure that Ayumu, an underclassman and the only other member of the club, has a huge crush on her. They get together to play shogi every day after school, but no matter what she does, she can't seem to get him to confess his feelings! What she doesn't know is that Ayumu has made a pact with himself to reveal his love only after he's beaten Yaotome at shogi for the first time. Yet there's one big issue with this plan...he really sucks!

With Christmas and the New Year approaching, the weather might be cooling down, but things between Urushi and Ayumu are only heating up. When Urushi ends up catching a cold amidst the seasonal fun and frolic, Ayumu is there to keep her company and nurse her back to health using a tried and true method.

Ayumu has made a solemn vow not to ask out his senpai in shogi club until he has beaten her fair and square in one match. However he is still no closer to his goal, and the school year continues to march on. Will he be able to uphold his promise to himself despite all the school activities, new club members, and conspiring friends, all while finding time to somehow get a leg up in shogi...?

With Urushi mostly out of the picture due to cram school, Rin ends up blurting out her feelings for Ayumu, though seems undeterred when he tells her he has feelings for someone else. Afterward, Urushi and Ayumu find themselves trapped in an elevator during a typhoon, giving them some much needed alone time!

The members of the shogi club head to the beach as they train for their upcoming competition, but with love in the air, shogi is the last thing on everyone's minds. On the heels of Sakurako and Takeshi's engagement (?!), will Urushi finally work up the nerve to tell Ayumu how she feels?
