Shortly after the turn of the century, my wife Terry and I moved to the mountains of Colorado. Shortly after that, I wrote this humorous book about our lives and how my hero wife lived in spite of the debilitating illness of MCS – Multiple Chemical Sensitivities. This book was mainly written to help us laugh in spite of our difficulties. In the meantime, you’ll get a closer look at how toxic chemicals affect the canaries (first to react) like Terry. And you’ll gain some insights on how to avoid them. Not only is Terry allergic to all man-made chemicals, she’s also allergic to several foods. Luckily she’s not allergic to plants or animals. Yeah, so you’ve got allergies – take a shot for them! Well except unless you’re allergic to the shot. And, they don’t make one for these allergies. So Terry lives with the severe face pain, the mind fog, the lack of energy. And she swears every time she’s out for a walk and somebody is doing their laundry with some fragranced detergent – her biggest bane. Sometimes she falters and doesn’t bear it well, but to me, she’s always a hero. This is her story. Enjoy! Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope, this picture book biography tells the story of a friendship defined by strength and love. Before Terry Fox become a national hero and icon, he was just a regular kid. But even then, his characteristic strength, determination and loyalty were apparent and were the foundation for his friendship with Doug. The two first met at basketball tryouts in grammar school. Terry was the smallest - and worst - basketball player on the court. But that didn't stop him. With Doug's help, Terry practiced and practiced until he earned a spot on the team. As they grew up, the best friends supported each other, challenged each other, helped each other become better athletes and better people. Doug was by Terry's side every step of the way: when Terry received a diagnosis of cancer in his leg, when he was learning to walk - then run - with a prosthetic leg and while he was training for the race of his life, his Marathon of Hope. Written from Doug's perspective, this story shows that Terry Fox's legacy goes beyond the physical and individual accomplishments of a disabled athlete and honors the true value of friendship.

The name Josh McDowell promises real-life, on-the-street Christian apologetics. In his first Harvest House book, Josh joins his son Sean to draw on his life’s work and comprehensively address a vital issue: why an entire generation of young Christians—and millions of older believers—is confused about what they believe, why they believe it, and how it’s relevant. The Unshakable Truth is uniquely positioned for younger Christians because it presents apologetics relationally, focusing on how Christianity’s doctrines affect relationships. The authors... ground every assertion in the overarching story of creation, incarnation, and re-creation. distill 12 crucial “faith statements”—for example, “A personal Creator God exists.” explain why each statement is trustworthy, how it applies to real life, and—using examples, stories, and experiences—what its relevance is. A spiritual gold mine for parents, youth workers, pastors—anyone wanting to reveal Christianity’s relevance to today’s life and culture.
