This work is a compilation of data found in 1,510 marriage records of Westmoreland County, Virginia, for the years 1850 through 1880. The index, which is made up of over 12,000 entries, contains a heading for C.S.A. to list 212 Confederate soldiers identified.

This book contains 1,200 will abstracts, with approximately 8,000 individuals listed. The abstracts, as a rule, include the name of the decedent, dates of recording and probate, heirs, executors, and, occasionally, the place of residence. As the title indicates, the abstracts cover the period 1654 to 1800. Softcover, (1925), 2007, Index, 238 pp.

Abstracted from the records in the Clerk's Office of Westmoreland County, this work contains a list of about 2,500 marriage bonds showing the names of approximately 6,000 brides, grooms, parents and sureties, the exact date of each bond, and, in some instances, the contracting parties' dates of birth and the place of marriage. It contains all marriage references--including licenses, bonds, mentions in wills, deeds, order books, and Bible records--that the author could locate in both published and unpublished sources, and because it is so well sourced it offers far more than a simple list of marriages.
