Book One: "Way of the Wizards " Series The story is about a group of wizards who live alone and need apprentices to pass on their knowledge before they all die out. The first problem they face is that they have not used words for a long time, instead, they use mental communication created from images, words and emotions. Therefore, they have to remember how to speak. This gave me a way to have fun how they do this and to introduce each of them and to indicate that they have lived so long and closely together that they are very similar . They send out eight wizards who each bring back an apprentice. This gives them a glimpse into the rest of the world as they each find an apprentice in different places. Eight chapters are given over to which wizard finds which apprentice and where. I have used slightly different writing styles for fun. One wizard notices that four of the apprentices are female. They then have to figure out if it is possible to teach wizardry to females. This created a way for me to look at some of the male versus female energy questions. Each apprentice has some form of communication problem, giving me a chance to look at and to play with some of the ways that communication is used in our society. One apprentice is deaf, one a very young child, one who uses her own language as a way to have some control, one was a slave and has no trust but many muscles, one is how we expect teenagers to act, one talks as he imagines knights and prophets talked, and two fall in love. The wizards use spells and energy for all of their needs and teaching how to do this becomes personal to each apprentice. This allowed me a way to look at the more social problems of today, as to how teaching could proceed. The wizards disqualify the two that fall in love from becoming apprentices. However, if the wizards send these back to where they came from neither family would accept the others choice of partner and splitting them would then be breaking the law of interference! Since they both come from farming backgrounds, the wizards spell them a farm that the wizards wrongly assume they would soon give up, as the area is so harsh. One is sent away to become a priest, and those who are left will be taught by the wizard who found them. The ex-slave girl and the deaf boy become a team instructed by one wizard, as she knows sign language and can help with communications. Each apprentice has to go before the higher council to see if each of them has the right spirit, stamina, and strength to become apprentices. As the book proceeds and each of them evolve with the new situation, the wizards and the apprentices start to change. That is where the first book ends. There is a lot of silliness such as puns, observations and it is very English and tongue in cheek, while at the same time looking at problems such as abuse, rejection, and social outcasts. I have tried to do this by using humour and the characters as well as the magic and the place itself where most things can happen. Author J. E. Honey James' ambitions as a writer are to communicate, entertain, and give something back for what he has received from the books and people that has helped him so often over the years. The author of many short stories, James has co-authored Purple Moon with Sue McCormack and offered many other story ideas to others. He has had a couple of short stories published by the Alternative Natural Philosophy Association. James is interested in other things such as painting, drawing, and carving, not to mention his studies with various healing energies. James has retired to Wales, and is devoting more time to writing the "Way of the Wizards" Series. Visit the wizards of Pearland and their apprentices at and interact with them!

Nothing could have prepared him, however, for dealing with the calculating evil of Path Bloodhue and his powerful Red Robed Wizards. And against the legion of the perfidious Black Robed Wizards, with their lethal dark assassins and brutal black blades, how can he possibly hope to triumph or even survive? And then there are the squirrels.

I'm one scrappy wizard. As someone with barely a flicker of magic, I've spent my life being mocked and surviving fights with bullies. But when my parents die in an accident, and I find myself responsible for our whole wizard house and family, I know my usual tactics aren't going to cut it.The situation veers from bad to catastrophic when my backstabbing cousin stages a coup and takes my family hostage.I barely manage to flee, but the only supernatural willing to help me is Killian Drake--the most feared vampire in the region, and a far more deadly villain than the jerk threatening my family. Is Killian sexy and charismatic? Heck yeah. He's also so powerful that my flight or fight instincts kick in every time our eyes meet. And he's definitely using me as his personal magic detector in his feud against the local fae.But Killian is also the first person to believe I might have more than just a scrap of magic. And if I can convince him to train me, I might get strong enough to free my family and get my house back.I'm not sure what happens when a scrappy wizard is taught how to fight by a hall of deadly vampires, but I'm about to find out.

The comedic duo behind The Government Manual for New Superheroes is back, and this time they've brought their magic wands and enchanted artifacts. The Government Manual for New Wizards is a hilarious, mock-official handbook for wannabe witches and warlocks who need advice on recognizing the onset of wizardolescence, understanding the laws of magic (and the magic of laws), choosing (or being chosen by) the right magical items and enchanted artifacts, dealing with the dead (grateful and otherwise), successfully hosting magical exhibitions, and the proper care and feeding of magical creatures. Wands, charms, cloaks of invisibility, shoes of stealth (or sneakers), and other otherworldly accoutrements--it's all here, discussed tongue-in-cheek but with the utmost Governmental authority. This entertaining guide offers such sage advice as: * A demon is just as afraid of you as you are of it--provided, of course, that you are eight feet tall, composed of living fire, and capable of destroying a small village with a single angry thought. Otherwise, it doesn't find you frightening at all. * When selecting educational programs, do not be tempted by solicitations from wizardry parchment mills. A so-called degree from such a place is not worth the scroll on which it appears to be inscribed. The ink will disappear not long after the school itself does. The Government Manual for New Wizards is a sidesplitting spoof of all things wizard-y.

In the days of ancient Felstad, vampires kept to the shadows, their small numbers no match for the power of the city's wizards. But when the cataclysm struck, the wizards were destroyed, while the deathless vampires went into a frozen hibernation. Now, as the city thaws, so too do its undead inhabitants. The masters of the night are rising again: reoccupying their hidden strongholds, reforming their old cabals, and finding new victims to serve as their thralls. The destruction of the old city has brought one other boon to the vampires – giant's blood. While giants used to live out of reach to the far north, in the intervening millennium, they have descended on the city in large numbers. Their blood is like an elixir to the vampires, filling them with strength and magical power. A new war is forming between these two ancient races, and once again, the wizards of Frostgrave are caught in the middle. This supplement for Frostgrave: Fantasy Wargames in the Frozen City presents greatly expanded information about the vampires and the giants that occupy the frozen ruins, including rules for vampiric magic and a breakdown of the different tribes of giants. Also included are rules for a new type of soldier, the giant-blooded. These huge men and women have the blood of giants running through their veins, granting them great strength unseen in normal men. Finally, the book contains a section on playing Frostgrave with high-level wizards and includes two mini-campaigns to challenge these experienced spellcasters.
