Good design is enabling, and each and every one of us is a designer. Universal Design is widely recognized an important concept that should be incorporated in all person-centred policies. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) clearly stipulates that the most effective way of delivering on the promise of an inclusive society is through a Universal Design approach. Sitting at the intersection of the fields of Higher Education and Universal Design, this book presents papers delivered at the Universal Design and Higher Education in Transformation Congress (UDHEIT2018), held in Dublin, Ireland, from 30 October to 2 November 2018. This event brings together key experts from industry, education, and government and non-government organization sectors to share experiences and knowledge with all participants. This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the First International Workshop on Higher Education Learning Methodologies and Technologies Online, HELMeTO 2019, held in Novedrate, Italy, in June 2019. The 15 revised full papers and 2 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 39 submissions. This two-volume set of LNCS 12188 and 12189 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Universal Access in Human-Computer Interaction, UAHCI 2020, held as part of the 22nd International Conference, HCI International 2020, which took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, in July 2020. Righting Educational Wrongs brings together the work of scholars from the fields of disability studies in education and law to examine contemporary struggles around in-clusion and access to education. Specifically, contributors examine policies and practices as they contribute to or undermine educational access for individuals with disabilities. Kanter and Ferri expand our understanding about the potential of legal studies to inform work around disability studies in education and vice versa. Contributors explore the intersections between disability studies, law, and education, forging a theoretical framework for thinking about educational access. Several essays take a critical look at some of the histories of exclusion in education and the ways that these exclusions have been upheld by a variety of educational policies and practices. Other essays reflect on how students with disabilities and their families experience the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act. By bridging various disciplines, Righting Educational Wrongs offers new insights to allow us to better understand the multiple perspectives and voices within the field of disability studies.

The decision to go to college is a big one. It signifies a transition into young adulthood and the increasing expectations for independence that can feel exciting, liberating, and daunting! For students with disabilities this transition may be even more challenging. Despite the challenges, more and more students with disabilities are attending postsecondary colleges and universities. While this is certainly encouraging, students with disabilities are less likely to successfully complete their postsecondary programs when compared with their general population peers. So, what do we do? We can learn from our successes during early education and from successful postsecondary programs, taking what we have learned and bring these lessons to scale so that fully inclusive postsecondary programs are available for all students with special education needs. This book was originally published as a special issue of European Journal of Special Needs Education.
