Since the early 1980s, researchers and practitioners in the organisational and management fields have presumed a link between organisational, or corporate, culture and organisational performance. Whilst many believe this exists, other authors have been critical of the validity of such studies. Part of this doubt stems from a reliance on measures of organisational performance that are based purely on financial measures of business growth. Using the construction industry as the subject of his research, Vaughan Coffey traces the development of the literature on organisational culture and business effectiveness and investigates the culture-performance link using a new and highly objective measure of company performance and an evaluation of organisational culture, which is largely behaviourally-based. This book explores the differences in cultural attributes and management factors to enable managers working for Japanese contractors to reduce misunderstandings and misinterpretations when communicating with project team members from different cultural backgrounds. It focuses on Japanese contractors operating in Singapore, since the Singapore construction industry has, for many years, been one of the largest overseas construction markets for the top-5 Japanese contractors. Using Hofstede’s national cultural framework for the cultural studies in construction project management, it reveals various real-world management practices and discusses national cultural differences relating to managers working for Japanese contractors in Singapore as well as the communication weaknesses of current management practices and styles. The results presented provide useful lessons for Japanese contractors operating in Singapore, as well as other parts of the world, to bridge cultural and communication gaps.

This research aimed to study the influence of interpersonal emotion regulation on the work performance of information technology employees. This chapter elaborately explains the selected study variables, back ground of the study, Problem statements, Research gap, Objectives of the study, Limitations of the study, and Chapterization of the study. Interpersonal emotion regulations is the process in which the information technology employees makes efforts to adopt the best or suitable interpersonal emotion regulating strategies to change the emotional experience of another individual. Further Ayse Altan-Atalay (2019) referred interpersonal emotion regulation as group of emotion regulation strategies that involve utilization of other people with the purpose of modifying the emotional process that one is going through. Understanding and studying the relationship between interpersonal emotion regulation and work performance is necessary towards the effectiveness of regulating individual emotions while building relationship to success in work life. Examining the relationship between interpersonal emotion regulation strategies and goals proves necessary towards discerning the effectiveness of different interpersonal emotion regulation strategies in various situations.
