HIV/AIDS constitutes a global problem. A good number of scholars from different nationalities, multiple rationalities, religious sensibilities, theological intelligibilities and ethical, cultural, and ecclesiastical backgrounds have affirmed that this worldwide quagmire constitutes a global health problem and social malady which does not have a well-defined geographically limited spread. The global nature of HIV/AIDS as seen in the statistics does not however undermine the fact that the effects of this sickness are not felt proportionally from one nation to another. This book proposes to situate the local as a veritable site of empowerment for communities dealing with HIV/AIDS, as it is the case with the African continent. The author of this book, over and above the way the problem of HIV/AIDS has been constructed, projected, and reviewed, decided to situate this epidemic of the 20th Century within the socio-cultural and political context of the Nigerian nation with particular reference to the Igbo people. The task of contextualizing this problem reveal the identity of the author as an Igbo, and as a theologian, who engages the indigenous ethical principles, unsophisticated traditional wisdom, cultural and religious values of his people in offering solutions that resonate the cultural identity of his people in dialogue with modern and post-modern constructs.

Through his privileged travels and interactions with a wide spectrum of peoples in different parts of the world, Sinachi Ukpabi observed a growing interest in his rich African heritage. The Heritage is thus an attempt to satisfy this growing interest, towards promoting racial harmony. In The Heritage, Ukpabi follows in the footsteps of his Umuahian literary forbears like Chinua Achebe, Pius Okigbo, Chukwuemeka Ike, Elechi Amadi, Ken Saro-Wiwa and Obi Nwakanma. He captures the struggle of the African in the post-colonial 20th century global society, through the experience of Nnaka Alozie, a promising son of Igboland. It tells of his travails in the first 30 years of independent Nigeria with Claire, a British girl, within the complex matrix of interracial marriage, civil war, race relations and cultural heritage, sequel to his audacious quest for the white mans education. The book volume has been intentionally reduced and an attempt made to write in fast-paced but flowing language to equally appeal to the Facebook generation.

Okere seeks to discover ways to advance the Christian faith. Okere, an ordained Catholic priest, asks serious questions about the nature of religion: - Can someone believe in a supernatural being without any proof that the being is affecting his life? li> Can the notion of God be therapeutic in any sense, especially when people face diff rent life-threatening situations? Can a hungry person sing and praise God on empty stomach? Can the name of God be employed for political gains? The Christian religion in Nigeria has dramatically affected the people of Igboland. Discover why this is so important, and learn more about faith, religion, and life in Nigeria in An Appraisal of the Growth of the Christian Faith in Igboland.

This collection of twenty-eight essays presents an up-to-date survey of pre-Islamic Iran, from the earliest dynasty of Illam to the end of Sasanian empire, encompassing a rich diversity of peoples and cultures. Historically, Iran served as a bridge between the earlier Near Eastern cultures and the later classical world of the Mediterranean, and had a profound influence on political, military, economic, and cultural aspects of the ancient world. Written by international scholars and drawing mainly on the field of practical archaeology, which traditionally has shared little in the way of theories and methods, the book provides crucial pieces to the puzzle of the national identity of Iranian cultures from a historical perspective. Revealing the wealth and splendor of ancient Iranian society – its rich archaeological data and sophisticated artistic craftsmanship – most of which has never before been presented outside of Iran, this beautifully illustrated book presents a range of studies addressing specific aspects of Iranian archaeology to show why the artistic masterpieces of ancient Iranians rank among the finest ever produced. Together, the authors analyze how archaeology can inform us about our cultural past, and what remains to still be discovered in this important region.
