This is the proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Particles and Nuclei, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA which was concerned with new developments in experimental and theoretical particle physics, nuclear physics, and cosmology, and the intersections of these fields which will help us understand our Universe more completely. The participants reported on new developments in instrumentation, including large-scale facilities, such as accelerators, that will be essential for future work.

The ISMD 2005 conference reviewed and updated the theoretical and experimental understanding of multiparticle production in high energy collisions. About half of the papers discussed collisions of ultra-relativistic nuclei with recent results from RHIC. In addition, some intriguing results from HERA and Tevatron colliders were presented and future experiments were discussed as well. Following the ISMD conference, the Workshop on Particle Correlations and Femtoscopy was held for the first time. This new series of regular workshops presents a critical and thorough analysis of the latest results on particle interferometry in high energy heavy ion collisions. Thefocus on this rather narrow subject was stimulated by a wealth of new data arriving steadily from the RHIC and SPS experiments.

This book collects a series of papers presented at the XXIV International Meeting on Fundamental Physics. This annual conference is devoted to reviewing current topics in the field of high energy physics. From the Tevatron to the LHC reviews the present status of experiments at large accelerators (Tevatron, LEP, LHC) and deals with selected subjects like CP violation, B physics, glueballs, neutrinos and supersymmetry.

This is a sequel to the review volume Quark-Gluon Plasma. There are 13 articles contributed by leading investigators in the field, covering a wide range of topics about the theoretical approach to the subject. These contributions are timely reviews of nearly all the actively pursued problems, written in a pedagogical style suitable for beginners as well as experienced researchers.

High Energy Physics 99 contains the 18 invited plenary presentations and 250 contributions to parallel sessions presented at the International Europhysics Conference on High Energy Physics. The book provides a comprehensive survey of the latest developments in high energy physics. Many high-energy collider experiments (including the current Large Hadron Collider at CERN) involve the collision of hadrons. Hadrons are composite particles consisting of partons (quarks and gluons), and this means that in any hadron-hadron collision there will typically be multiple collisions of the constituents — i.e. multiple parton interactions (MPI). Understanding the nature of the MPI is important in terms of searching for new physics in the products of the scatters, and also in its own right to gain a greater understanding of hadron structure. This book aims at providing a pedagogical introduction and a comprehensive review of different research lines linked by an involvement of MPI phenomena. It is written by pioneers as well as young leading scientists, and reviews both experimental findings and theoretical developments, discussing also the remaining open issues.
