Granados's 12 Spanish Dances is a cycle of keyboard vignettes depicting Spanish life. This is the first critical edition published in the United States that includes Granados's final revisions. Performance notes, historical information and a glossary of Spanish terms are included. This edition aids in interpretation through added fingerings, editorial pedal, and indications for subtle changes in tempo, which are integral to the performance of Spanish music. Dr. Kuehl-White studied in Barcelona with legendary Spanish pianist Alicia de Larrocha, who provided a tremendous legacy regarding the performance practice traditions of Granados's music. The twelve Spanish Dances, Op. 37, were composed in 1890, and were originally published in four sets of three dances each. These early works were among Granados' first successes as a composer. They have been transcribed for guitar as well as for orchestra, and are more often heard on the guitar than on the piano, especially the famous 5th dance, Andaluza (sometimes named Playera), which is one of the most performed Spanish classical pieces.

This second comprehensive and scholarly volume of over 500 pages on the life and work of Andres Segovia contains a biography of the years 1958-1987 and focuses on Segovia's rendition of Spanish/Romantic and Contemporary/Neo-Classical masterpieces by Tárrega, Albeniz, Granados, Llobet and Ponce. A special appendix in each volume presents the original scores for the Segovia editions discussed in the text, some of which have never been published, as well as modern editions of these pieces.
