This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Fourth International AMAST Workshop on Real-Time Systems and Concurrent and Distributed Software, ARTS'97, held in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, in May 1997. The volume presents 24 carefully selected revised full papers. Also included are two historical contributions honoring Ramon Llull, who was born on Mallorca, as well as two invited papers. All current issues in the field of formal methods for real-time systems and distributed and concurrent systems are addressed.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th International Symposium on Static Analysis, SAS 2001, held in Paris, France, in July 2001. The 21 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 62 submissions; also included are 5 abstracts of an invited session on security. The papers are organized in topical sections on program transformation, strictness and termination, semantics abstraction, logic and constraint programming, data structures, pointer analysis, model checking, and abstract model checking.

This book describes the concepts and application of model-based development (MBD), model transformations, and Agile MBD to a wide range of software systems. It covers systems requirements engineering, system specification and design, verification, reuse, and system composition in the context of Agile MBD. Examples of applications in finance, system migration, internet systems and software refactoring are given. An established open-source MBD technology, UML-RSDS, is used throughout to illustrate the concepts. The book is suitable for industrial practitioners who need training in Agile MBD, and those who need to understand the issues to be considered when introducing MBD in an industrial context. It is also suitable for academic researchers, and for use as text for undergraduate or postgraduate courses in MBD. Examples for educational use of UML-RSDS are included in the book.

ETAPS'99 is the second instance of the European Joint Conferences on Theory and Practice of Software. ETAPS is an annual federated conference that was established in 1998 by combining a number of existing and new conferences. This year it comprises ve conferences (FOSSACS, FASE, ESOP, CC, TACAS), four satellite workshops (CMCS, AS, WAGA, CoFI), seven invited lectures, two invited tutorials, and six contributed tutorials. The events that comprise ETAPS address various aspects of the system - velopment process, including speci cation, design, implementation, analysis and improvement. The languages, methodologies and tools which support these - tivities are all well within its scope. Dieren t blends of theory and practice are represented, with an inclination towards theory with a practical motivation on one hand and soundly-based practice on the other. Many of the issues involved in software design apply to systems in general, including hardware systems, and the emphasis on software is not intended to be exclusive.

The 22 revised full papers presented were carefully selected and reviewed for inclusion in the book. Also included are four invited contributions and five tool demonstrations. The papers address the current aspects of the hot topic of embedded systems, in particular temporal logic, requirements engineering, analysis techniques, verification, model checking, and applications.

This volume contains the proceedings of FMOODS 2003, the 6th IFIP WG 6. 1 International Conference on Formal Methods for Open Object-Based Distributed Systems. The conference was held in Paris, France on November 19–21, 2003. The event was the sixth meeting of this conference series, which is held roughly every year and a half, the earlier events having been held in Paris, Canterbury, Florence, Stanford, and Twente. ThegoaloftheFMOODSseriesofconferencesistobringtogetherresearchers whose work encompasses three important and related ?elds: – formal methods; – distributed systems; – object-based technology.
