This is an open access book.The 6th Biennial Conference of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) Nigeria, with the theme 'Diversity and Innovation in Science for Sustainable Development,' took place from July 2nd to July 6th, 2023. The conference commenced each day at 10 am and kicked off with a Pre-Conference Workshop titled 'Equipping Next Generation Researchers.' The event was hosted at the Ebitimi Banigo Auditorium, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and featured a hybrid format, with over 250 participants joining both in-person and virtually.The Conference encompassed nine Session Tracks, each addressing a specific aspect of scientific advancement and development:• Track 1: Digital Technologies in Science and Technology Education.• Track 2: Computational Methods and Scientific Applications.• Track 3: Green Energy and Sustainable Ecosystems.• Track 4: Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, and Nanotechnology.• Track 5: Smart Farming, Agricultural Processes, and Food Security.• Track 6: Environment, Climate Change, and Innovative Solutions.• Track 7: Medical and Biomedical Research.• Track 8: Engineering, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence Research.• Track 9: Social Science and Arts in Science and Medicine.These specialized tracks allowed participants to explore a wide range of topics and engage in fruitful discussions, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration, and contributing to the overarching goal of promoting diversity and innovation in science for sustainable development, with a focus on encouraging women's participation in STEM fields.

This handbook brings together a range of global perspectives in the field of critical studies in education to illuminate multiple ways of knowing, learning, and teaching for social wellbeing, justice, and sustainability. The handbook covers areas such as critical thought systems of education, critical race (and racialization) theories of education, critical international/global citizenship education, and critical studies in education and literacy studies. In each section, the chapter authors illuminate the current state of the field and probe more inclusive ways to achieve multicentric knowledge and learning possibilities.

Including women in the global South as users, producers, consumers, designers, and developers of technology has become a mantra against inequality, prompting movements to train individuals in information and communication technologies and foster the participation and retention of women in science and technology fields. In this book, Firuzeh Shokooh Valle argues that these efforts have given rise to an idealized, female economic figure that combines technological dexterity and keen entrepreneurial instinct with gendered stereotypes of care and selflessness. Narratives about the "equalizing" potential of digital technologies spotlight these women's capacity to overcome inequality using said technologies, ignoring the barriers and circumstances that create such inequality in the first place as well as the potentially violent role of technology in their lives. In Defense of Solidarity and Pleasure examines how women in the Global South experience and resist the coopting and depoliticizing nature of these scripts. Drawing on fieldwork in Costa Rica and a transnational feminist digital organization, Shokooh Valle explores the ways that feminist activists, using digital technologies as well as a collective politics that prioritize solidarity and pleasure, advance a new feminist technopolitics.

Almost all economies have, or are at least starting to, understand the significance of examining and mainstreaming gender issues in the world of work. Sociocultural evolution and various other factors have helped these developments, but there is still so much more work to be done. Technology has played a substantial role in decreasing the gender divide as more households than ever before have access to technology, and the revolution of access to information across most societies has become gender neutral and empowering. While technology can hold the potential to significantly expand the job market and open opportunities for all job seekers, questions surrounding automation and availability of jobs and the accessibility to secure the necessary qualifications and education needed to fill paid jobs rage on, especially when examining those who are typically marginalized. Gender Perspectives on Industry 4.0 and the Impact of Technology on Mainstreaming Female Employment discusses gender perspective and its impact on the fourth industrial revolution, particularly in the realm of employment structure, and analyzes the impact of technology on mainstreaming women in paid employment. In the present environment, organizations are beginning to realize the importance of looking more critically at their workforce and structure and how to better cater to the diversity, equity, and inclusion movement while also productively managing the advancement of new technologies. Covering topics such as sustainable development and the future of work, it is ideal for policymakers, practitioners, professionals, consultants, managers, researchers, academicians, educators, and students.
