Excerpt from Thirty-First Annual Report of the Council of the Corporation of Foreign Bondholders: For the Year 1903-1904 The corporation OF foreign bondholders was constitution founded in 1868: it received a Special Licence from the Board of Trade in 1873, and was incorporated by Act of Parliament in 1898. Under that Act the Council of the Corporation consists of twenty-one members, six of whom are nominated by the Central Association of Bankers, six by the London Chamber Of Commerce, and nine are co-opted by the Council as a whole - that is by the votes both of the representative and co-opted members. A majority of the members of the Council are thus appointed by independent outside bodies. The principal object of the Corporation is the protection Object! Of the interests of the holders Of foreign securities. In addition to this, however, it keeps elaborate records regarding the economic and financial condition of the various States with whose debts it is called upon to deal, and these records are readily placed at the disposal of investors or other interested parties.
