This paper is concerned with Organizational Culture (OC), its components and the main techniques to study it. It states that measuring and establishing its impacts related with results, efficiency, health and welfare of employees are important issues for any manager - public or private. But measuring culture is not enough, we need to be engage with both, manage and shape it according to the organizational context. Este documento recoge algunos elementos constitutivos de la Cultura Organizacional (CO), reflexionando sobre métodos relevantes para su estudio. Destaca que la importancia de caracterizarla y medirla radica en su impacto tanto en los resultados directos y la eficiencia de una organización, como en la salud, el entusiasmo, el compromiso y la flexibilidad de sus miembros. Advierte, finalmente, que la responsabilidad no termina con su medición, sino que exige complementariamente la dirección y el moldeamiento de acuerdo con las circunstancias del entorno.

The present test describes to aspects of the titled investigation Characterization of the Organizational Culture in the Oficina Pastoral para la Atención de la Niñez y la Familia - OPAN, developed in this institution of social character in the city of Bogotá D.C. Characterizing is retaken like primary target the Organizational Culture of the institution. In addition, within the theoretical frame identity processes of and organizational culture are developed, among others. It is a study of descriptive type, in witch I get to the conclusion that the organizational culture is defined from elements that give an organizational identity from symbols, rules, rituals, meaning and relations in addition to a communication characterized by a similar language between the workers of an organization.

Los temas de cultura, estructura y estrategia comprenden fenómenos organizacionales que han tenido un importante desarrollo, en los que existe escasez de trabajos que presenten de manera compilada los principales fundamentos teóricos y el análisis de contenido de los autores, escuelas y perspectivas más representativos en su abordaje. Esta obra realiza una fundamentación teórica de la cultura, la estrategia y la estructura, identificando sus principales caraterísticas, connotaciones, concepciones y vetas de estudio.

This article presents a Spanish adaptation of Denison Organizational Culture Survey, a questionnaire designed to evaluate organizational culture. This survey consists of 60 items, grouped in 12 sub-scales, which identify 4 cultural dimensions. These dimensions have been widely study and their influence in organizational effectiveness is accepted. This adaptation has been applied in 488 participants using confirmatory factor analysis. Results show adequate psychometric properties, so we can conclude that the Spanish adaptation almost fully replicates the structure of the original version in English. En este estudio se presenta la adaptación al castellano del Denison Organizational Culture Survey, una encuesta diseñada para la evaluación de la cultura organizativa. Está compuesta por 60 ítems agrupados en 12 subescalas que identifican a su vez 4 dimensiones culturales, de aceptada influencia en la efectividad organizacional. La muestra consta de 488 personas y se ha utilizado análisis factorial confirmatorio. Los resultados obtenidos señalan unas propiedades psicométricas adecuadas, por lo que cabe concluir que la adaptación española replica casi en su totalidad la estructura planteada en la versión original.
