This is a hopeful sign. The movement cannot but result in a better understanding between the masses and the classes. This little book is written with the hope that it may help in the work. It is written out of an experience which has not been altogether voluntary. It is also written largely from the standpoint of the man who is to be reached and helped. Some of the material used has appeared in the form of special articles in several periodicals, although in nearly every instance the articles have been considerably expanded. Chapters I, II, III, IV, and V were printed in the Sunday School Times, under the title which has been given to this book.
