A comprehensive biography of the Treatise of the Three Impostors, a controversial nonexistent medieval book. Like a lot of good stories, this one begins with a rumor: in 1239, Pope Gregory IX accused Frederick II, the Holy Roman Emperor, of heresy. Without disclosing evidence of any kind, Gregory announced that Frederick had written a supremely blasphemous book—De tribus impostoribus, or the Treatise of the Three Impostors—in which Frederick denounced Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad as impostors. Of course, Frederick denied the charge, and over the following centuries the story played out across Europe, with libertines, freethinkers, and other “strong minds” seeking a copy of the scandalous text. The fascination persisted until finally, in the eighteenth century, someone brought the purported work into actual existence—in not one but two versions, Latin and French. Although historians have debated the origins and influences of this nonexistent book, there has not been a comprehensive biography of the Treatise of the Three Impostors. In The Atheist’s Bible, the eminent historian Georges Minois tracks the course of the book from its origins in 1239 to its most salient episodes in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, introducing readers to the colorful individuals obsessed with possessing the legendary work—and the equally obsessive passion of those who wanted to punish people who sought it. Minois’s compelling account sheds much-needed light on the power of atheism, the threat of blasphemy, and the persistence of free thought during a time when the outspoken risked being burned at the stake.

An accessible discourse written by a trusted expert and scholar critiquing the new atheism on its own merits and claims. The rise of the new atheism, which includes the manifestos of Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens, has created a public willingness in today's marketplace to talk about God and religion. Yet the debate up to this point has focused largely on rebutting the new atheist critique of Christianity. Why God Won't God Away moves into new territory by challenging the new atheism on its own grounds. Chapters include discussion on: What is the new atheism The problem of religion The problem of human nature Believing only what can be proved Dealing with imagined worlds and myths The new humanism and the new enlightenment Violence and dogmatism This book is written by a theology professor and Christian apologist who not only has a best-selling book rebutting the new atheist critique of Christianity but has debated Richard Dawkins in Oxford, Christopher Hitchens in Washington, and Daniel Dennett in London.

The Bumper Book of Blasphemy looks at all the bloated claims religions make in favour of gods, goddesses, spirits and other holy, magical creatures, and pokes them until they evaporate in the bright light of rational analysis. Irreverent, vulgar, merciless and laugh-out-loud funny, this book drags deities, souls and sins, post-death theme parks, miracles and all the other supernatural woo-woo out into the open. It examines the devious and illogical drivel preached about supernatural spirits, their magical, universe-juggling powers, and their bizarre fascination with our genitals and what we do with them. Here, the sheer silliness of utterances by worshippers, their peculiar beliefs, their claims to moral superiority, their opinions on atheists; and the privilege they expect religion to enjoy in this life, are hauled behind the barn and kicked repeatedly. If you're not sure that's your cup of tea, here's a trigger warning: Don't read this book unless you possess the intellectual and emotional grit to deal with reasoning or opinion you don't agree with or like. But do make sure you buy it first. Then, if you have a religious gland in your body, just put it down. You won't survive the tonnage of reason, argument and evidence, all enriched by quotations from some of the smartest people around. But if you're a sceptic, you'll love it. Adult ideas and language are rampant throughout, along with jokes, quotations, facts and uncompromising opinions. Buy it. Read it. Send a copy to your friends. If you do, celebrate: there'll soon be one more of us, and one less of them. Hey, send one to your enemies too. It's not like you're going to go to hell for it.

A challenge has been issued on matters of faith and Becky Garrison meets it head on in this witty yet poignant answer to the Anti-God gurus Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, and Daniel Dennett. Becky Garrison, religious satirist and senior contributing editor for The Wittenberg Door, is taking a stand. Where most Christians assume the character of the Cowardly Lion chanting, "I do believe, I do believe, I do believe," Garrison refuses to simply thrust tracts at these self-proclaimed infidels. Instead, Garrison steels her pen and takes on the ungodly program of the New Atheists, skewering each argument with her sharp satiric wit. Garrison turns aside the atheists' assault without ignoring its real criticisms, namely, the church's inadequate response to war, evolution, medical ethics, social justice, and other important issues in the post-9/11 world.

The Bible has this category as well. It is called Blasphemy. Jon Webster, a published author at age 27, has also put together another book as well.
