A modern spiritual journey chronicles the lessons of the fruit of the spirit during a trying time in the author's life. Not only is his personal life changing with a growing family, but the world around him seems to change rapidly. As he listens for the Voice of God to clearly lay out the character of God, he shares his struggles with living faithfully and keeping his Christianity relevant. All of this culminates into one story that interprets love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-governance in a way never done before.

I had no idea what kind of year 2016 was going to be. Tragedies were rampant, violence was prevalent, division and hatred seemed to be at a level I had not experienced in my lifetime. At the outset, I was hoping that a spiritual journey would help me learn more about God's spirit and the world He created, but every day the world seemed to throw questions at me faster than I could find answers. And as the year progressed, the bulk of my writing centered less around the works I was reading and more around current events. I began to consistently ask myself how a Christ Follower is supposed to live in today's culture. How do we accurately show our faith? When the world seems to be two sides fighting against each other all the time, where do we fit? When there is no clear right or wrong sometimes, how do we respond? Avoidance? Engagement? To what level? This book is a peek into my mind as I've wrestled with these questions. I started this journey out with the fruit of the Spirit as my lens into God's character, and I shouldn't have been surprised to find that it was precisely those nine traits that helped me to see the key to relevancy of faith in the twenty-first century. - Charles Brandon Wagoner

Dr Francis S. Collins, head of the Human Genome Project, is one of the world's leading scientists, working at the cutting edge of the study of DNA, the code of life. Yet he is also a man of unshakable faith in God. How does he reconcile the seemingly unreconcilable? In THE LANGUAGE OF GOD he explains his own journey from atheism to faith, and then takes the reader on a stunning tour of modern science to show that physics, chemistry and biology -- indeed, reason itself -- are not incompatible with belief. His book is essential reading for anyone who wonders about the deepest questions of all: why are we here? How did we get here? And what does life mean?

Experiences of hearing the voice of God (or angels, demons, or other spiritual beings) have generally been understood either as religious experiences or else as a feature of mental illness. Some critics of traditional religious faith have dismissed the visions and voices attributed to biblical characters and saints as evidence of mental disorder. However, it is now known that many ordinary people, with no other evidence of mental disorder, also hear voices and that these voices not infrequently include spiritual or religious content. Psychological and interdisciplinary research has shed a revealing light on these experiences in recent years, so that we now know much more about the phenomenon of "hearing voices" than ever before. The present work considers biblical, historical, and scientific accounts of spiritual and mystical experiences of voice hearing in the Christian tradition in order to explore how some voices may be understood theologically as revelatory. It is proposed that in the incarnation, Christian faith finds both an understanding of what it is to be fully human (a theological anthropology), and God’s perfect self-disclosure (revelation). Within such an understanding, revelatory voices represent a key point of interpersonal encounter between human beings and God.

The simplest ideas can have the most profound effects. When Anne heard "the still small voice" suggest she hand out Chick-Fil-A gifts cards for a year, she accepted the invitation and Project 120 was born. This book recites some of the encounters Anne had with those the Lord put in her path during this year-long project. It reminds us of the power acts of kindness can have and how easy it is for you and me to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our day to day lives. Anne is actively involved with a home prayer group, the Glory Girls, whose story is told in her first book, The Mustard Seed Chronicles. She continues to mentor women and minister to those around her as the Lords leads. She is married, has two children and she and her husband Rob live in Charlotte, NC.

No, Anti-Book is not a book about books. Not exactly. And yet it is a must for anyone interested in the future of the book. Presenting what he terms “a communism of textual matter,” Nicholas Thoburn explores the encounter between political thought and experimental writing and publishing, shifting the politics of text from an exclusive concern with content and meaning to the media forms and social relations by which text is produced and consumed. Taking a “post-digital” approach in considering a wide array of textual media forms, Thoburn invites us to challenge the commodity form of books—to stop imagining books as transcendent intellectual, moral, and aesthetic goods unsullied by commerce. His critique is, instead, one immersed in the many materialities of text. Anti-Book engages with an array of writing and publishing projects, including Antonin Artaud’s paper gris-gris, Valerie Solanas’s SCUM Manifesto, Guy Debord’s sandpaper-bound Mémoires, the collective novelist Wu Ming, and the digital/print hybrid of Mute magazine. Empirically grounded, it is also a major achievement in expressing a political philosophy of writing and publishing, where the materiality of text is interlaced with conceptual production. Each chapter investigates a different form of textual media in concert with a particular concept: the small-press pamphlet as “communist object,” the magazine as “diagrammatic publishing,” political books in the modes of “root” and “rhizome,” the “multiple single” of anonymous authorship, and myth as “unidentified narrative object.” An absorbingly written contribution to contemporary media theory in all its manifestations, Anti-Book will enrich current debates about radical publishing, artists’ books and other new genre and media forms in alternative media, art publishing, media studies, cultural studies, critical theory, and social and political theory.
