Media support of communication has dramatically changed during the last decade. This trend is especially driven by new media technologies, like e. g. "Voice-over IP" (VoIP). VoIP provides a solid converged network, combining voice, data, fax and video transmissions into a cohesive networking infrastructure centered on the Internet Protocol (IP). Permanent innovations in the telecommunication and computer industry enable these new kinds of media support. Since media support of communication changed so much, recently it seems to be necessary to prove if the existing media-theories which worked for older media are still valid for the new media as described. This question stands in the foreground of this book and this question is elaborated in the book by presenting an alternative in the sense of a comprehensive media theory-based framework. VoIP-based SkypeT-technology are used as an example throughout the whole book. After discussing the different traditional media- theories and approaches the new perspectives "roommetaphor" and "virtuality" for the topic is suggested and explained. This book addresses primarily the communicating business-community on the one hand and teachers, students and interested people in communication and information science.

This book gathers peer-reviewed papers presented at the 1st International and Interdisciplinary Conference on Digital Environments for Education, Arts and Heritage (EARTH2018), held in Brixen, Italy in July 2018. The papers focus on interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research concerning cutting-edge cultural heritage informatics and engineering; the use of technology for the representation, preservation and communication of cultural heritage knowledge; as well as heritage education in digital environments; innovative experiments in the field of digital representation; and methodological reflections on the use of IT tools in various educational contexts. The scope of the papers ranges from theoretical research to applications, including education, in several fields of science, technology and art. EARTH 2018 addressed a variety of topics and subtopics, including digital representation technologies, virtual museums and virtual exhibitions, virtual and augmented reality, digital heritage and digital arts, art and heritage education, teaching and technologies for museums, VR and AR technologies in schools, education through digital media, psychology of perception and attention, psychology of arts and communication, as well as serious games and gamification. As such the book provides architects, engineers, computer scientists, social scientists and designers interested in computer applications and cultural heritage with an overview of the latest advances in the field, particularly in the context of science, arts and education.

This book contains the proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Innovation Design and Digital Technology (ICIDDT 2023) which was held in a hybrid form from November 3rd to 5th, 2023. The conference topics covered in this conference include Smart Village and Future Community, Digital Communication of Traditional Culture, Intelligent Equipment and Innovative Design, Intelligent Interaction and User Experience, Digital Ecology, and Data Analysis. The conference aims to promote communication and cooperation between academia and industry and provide a platform to discuss the latest research results and development trends in the field of innovative design and digital technology. The creation of metropolitan areas is influenced by a wide array of factors, both practical and ecological. They can also be influenced by immaterial characteristics of a given area. Traditional approaches to understand space tend to view public space mainly as a shell or container, focussing on its morphological structures and functional uses. That way, its ever-changing meanings, contested or challenged uses have been largely ignored, as well as the contextual and on-going dynamics between social actors, their cultures, and struggles. The key role of space in enabling spatial opportunities for social action, the fluidity of its social meaning and the changing degree of "publicness" of a space remain unexplored fields of academic inquiry and professional practice. Public Space and Relational Perspectives offers a different understanding of public spaces in the city. The aim of the book is to (re)introduce the lived experiences in public life into the teaching curricula of those academic disciplines which deal with public space and the built environment, such as architecture, planning and urban design, as well as the social sciences. The book presents conceptual, practical and research challenges and brings together findings from activists, practitioners and theorists.
