The "Via Media" (middle way) represents a dialogue between the Evangelical Anglican, Anglo-Catholic, and Roman Catholic. Based on the edition of 1889 (with obvious errors and misprints slightly corrected), this is the first fully annotated volume of Newman's Anglican works. The text is supplemented with an introduction and appendices listing all the variant readings between the three editions of 1836, 1837, and the final edition. In addition, Weidner sets the original pagination of 1889 in the margin alongside the present text for quick reference to the uniform edition of the collected works.
