Harper, Krista, and James share two things in common. They all have disabilities, and they all have paranormal abilities. Both of those things leave the three separated from their peers but closer to each other. When a malevolent force within their high school begins to threaten them and the other students, they have to discover the nature and source of this force’s power and keep their classmates safe all while handling their studies and keeping their parents from getting suspicious. In the end, the three of them will discover whether their courage, friendship, and intelligence will be enough to save the day or if saving the school from the force and the bullies in the school is even possible.

Alyssa Megson had a rough start to her life, but now, things seem to be going well. Her best friend, Heidy, lives in her apartment building and is a great confidant, and she couldn’t be more in love with her husband, Evan, with whom she is trying to start a family. Things get even better when, after five years of trying and failing to get pregnant and being told her egg quality is too poor to conceive, Alyssa miraculously becomes pregnant with their daughter, Rachel. Evan struggles to find a balance between being a grieving son and an elated new father, as he learns his mom has been diagnosed with breast cancer. He begins to drink excessively and treat Alyssa with disrespect. Alyssa does her best to be supportive, but all her trust in Evan slips away when he puts Rachel's life in jeopardy. Alyssa cannot bring herself to forgive him. She turns to Heidy for support as she contemplates divorce, and is thankful Rachel has a friend in Heidy’s son, Merrick. Each harbouring an insecurity from a past experience (Alyssa being unsure of her mom’s whereabouts and Heidy’s divorce), they support each other through some of life’s toughest issues with a hilarious sense of humour and a whole lot of spunk and love. A secret they intended to keep hidden forever looms over the two families until there is no choice but to reveal it - but at what cost? In the meantime, has Heidy discovered where Alyssa’s mom is, and will the reason she left crush Alyssa?

Chaya lives in Long Island, NY and works as an editor. She has a boyfriend, Chris. Although they have only recently moved in together, she's known Chris all her life. He is a master carpenter as well as a great cook and musician. Once begun, their romantic relationship grows quickly, given all the years of their prior friendship. But then, just as they were becoming happy and comfortable, Chris has an auto accident, which leaves him without the use of his legs. Suddenly faced with the emotional and physical strains of Chris's recovery process and being a caregiver, not to mention the unpaid and overdue bills, Chaya is overwhelmed. Unwilling to burden Chris with additional stress, she decides to reach out for support from the most stable and practical man she knows. His name is John, and he had been her previous partner. Living in upstate New York, he is a bit older than she, happens to be quite wealthy, and also happens to still love her. Once he understands her situation, John tries to stabilize Chaya's wobbly world by suggesting three possible solutions. Chaya and Chris, after much difficulty, choose one of them. Making that decision in some ways only multiplies the challenges they face.
