David Stephens (ca.b.1780), a Quaker and a son of an English immigrant father and an Irish immigrant mother, served in the War of 1812, married, and had three sons born in North Carolina: William (b.ca. 1805), Lewis (b.ca.1807) and John (b.ca.1810). Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, California and elsewhere.
