Excerpt from Telegraphic Cipher Code: Especially Adapted to the Cotton Trade When it is necessary to telegraph in ordinary language, and there is fear of its being misunderstood, begin that part of the message which it is desired should be read literally, with the cipher word Rigor, which will be found on page 170. Words to fill blanks in sentences must be placed in the order in which they should be read, immediately after the ciphers for such sentences, except where the sentences begin with a blank. In that case, the word for the blank will immediately precede the cipher for the sentence.
