An a-c bridge method for measuring the electrical resistivities of conductors from ambient to 2000 deg K and a pulse heating method for measuring the specific heat of conductcrs from 10 deg K through the melting temperature are described. Results are accurate within 4% for molybdenum, tantalum, and rhenium. The specific heats of all three metals increase rapidly near their melting temperatures. Apparently, vacancy formation does not account for all of this increase, suggesting that additional mechanisms are also involved. (auth).

This report presents the results of a state-of-the-art survey covering tantalum and seven of its alloys. All data are given in tabular and graphical form covering some of the more important physical, mechanical, and metallurgical properties for each material.
