The Southern Workman was a monthly magazine published by the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute, a school for African American students in Virginia. The magazine covered a wide range of topics related to education, politics, and social issues affecting African Americans in the post-Civil War era. It was an important voice for the African American community during a critical period in American history.
