I have been teaching Practical Shooting for more than a decade. Watching thousands of students fire millions of rounds over the years has taught me quite a lot about shooting. It also taught me how individuals process and obtain an understanding of shooting. I have seen students repeatedly shoot the same patterns over and over again, and I've realized the same drills highlighted the same mistakes. Over time, it has become easy for me to spot these patterns. The difficulty was making the student see and understand what I saw. However, when the student would experience an understanding, they had a breakthrough in their shooting.Over time, I modified drills and created new ones, to highlight the patterns I was seeing so that students would understand what they were doing wrong and comprehend how to fix it. This book is the product of that refinement. It contains a simple set of ideas, techniques, and drills; distilled down to an uncomplicated form. By developing your understanding of the concepts contained in this book, you can achieve your own breakthrough.

John Henry ("Fitz") FitzGerald worked for Colt from 1918 till 1944. Shooting, originally published in 1930, was the culmination of Fitz's work in the firearms field. In it he discusses his work with law enforcement and the courts, his theories and practices about practical shooting of the "one hand gun" and his thoughts about target and exhibition shooting, hunting and home defense. This was the only book FitzGerald ever wrote, but his life was clearly dedicated to all aspects of handgun shooting. While his written work might be unfamiliar to some of you, those who are reading this work for the first time should be very familiar with the writings of Elmer Keith, Charles Askins Jr., Ashley Haines and Chauncey Thomas. All these men were friends of FitzGerald and thought highly of his methods and approach. After reading this book, you will feel the same way. Paladin is pleased to add this long-out-of-print volume by one of America's most renowned and colorful shooters to its Combat Classics library. The new forewords by FitzGerald scholars Timothy J. Mullin and Kevin Williams, as well as the addition of a number of never-before published photos, shed new light on FitzGerald the man and the shooter.

In this gritty, fast-paced crime novel, a resilient ex-con seeks redemption and uncovers a web of high-stakes secrets as Detective Leonid McGill tries to prove her innocence. Zella Grisham never denied shooting her boyfriend. That’s not why she did eight years of hard time on a sixteen-year sentence. It’s that the shooting inadvertently led to charges of grand theft. Talk about bad luck. Leonid McGill has reasons to believe she’s innocent. But reopening the case is only serving to unsettle McGill’s private life even further—and expose a family secret that’s like a kick to the gut. As the case unfolds, as the truth of what happened eight years ago becomes more damning and more complex than anyone dreamed, McGill and Zella realize that everyone is guilty of something, and that sometimes the sins of the past can be too damaging to ever forget.
