Of Temperance a special study for more than forty years, and was asked in December, 1884, to prepare a paper for the Toronto Ministerial Association, on The Scriptural Argument for Prohibition. In that paper I have shown that there is a manifest distinction made in the Word of God between intoxicating and unintoxicating liquors, and that the use of the former is always forbidden, that the wine made by our Lord at Cana, and used by Him at the Passover, was unintoxicating, and also the wine prescribed medicinally for Timothy.
