Secrets of the past hold the key to the future. Joseph Bridgeman is now an official member of the Continuum, a group of time travelers that heal the past to protect the future. When a rare focus object is stolen and put up for sale, Joe jumps at the chance to retrieve it, but a simple auction turns into a dangerous new mission that takes him farther back in time than he’s ever been before. Alone and unprepared in ancient China, Joe must not only complete the mission, but also unravel the mystery of a secretive organization known as Extempero. Who are they? And why do they seem intent on destroying everything the Continuum has achieved so far? When all hope appears lost, an unexpected ally helps Joe unlock a unique form of time-travel loop that sees him flung into the past yet again. Caught up in a shocking natural disaster, Joe must face a terrible choice, a decision that will have far-reaching consequences for the Continuum and a delicate future that hangs in the balance.

He only looked away for a second. Still haunted by the disappearance of his little sister, Amy, over twenty years ago, Joseph Bridgeman’s life has fallen apart. When a friend talks him into seeing hypnotherapist Alexia Finch to help with his insomnia, Joseph accidentally discovers he can time travel. His first trip only takes him back a few minutes, but his new-found ability gives him something he hasn’t felt for the longest time: hope. Joseph sets out to travel back to the night Amy went missing and save her. But after several failed attempts, he discovers the farther back he travels, the less time he gets to stay there. And the clock is ticking. With the help of Alexia, Joseph embarks on a desperate race against the past to save his sister. Can he master his new skill and solve the mystery of Amy’s disappearance before it’s too late? Previously released as The Unexpected Gift of Joseph Bridgeman, this updated version includes extra chapters, new plotlines, and even deeper character development. It makes way for an expanded vision of the Joseph Bridgeman Series, with the first four books released in 2021 and 2022.

This primer is a comprehensive collection of analytical and numerical techniques that can be used to extract the non-perturbative physics of quantum field theories. The intriguing connection between Euclidean Quantum Field Theories (QFTs) and statistical mechanics can be used to apply Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods to investigate strongly coupled QFTs. The overwhelming amount of reliable results coming from the field of lattice quantum chromodynamics stands out as an excellent example of MCMC methods in QFTs in action. MCMC methods have revealed the non-perturbative phase structures, symmetry breaking, and bound states of particles in QFTs. The applications also resulted in new outcomes due to cross-fertilization with research areas such as AdS/CFT correspondence in string theory and condensed matter physics. The book is aimed at advanced undergraduate students and graduate students in physics and applied mathematics, and researchers in MCMC simulations and QFTs. At the end of this book the reader will be able to apply the techniques learned to produce more independent and novel research in the field.

The Quantum Challenge, Second Edition, is an engaging and thorough treatment of the extraordinary phenomena of quantum mechanics and of the enormous challenge they present to our conception of the physical world. Traditionally, the thrill of grappling with such issues is reserved for practicing scientists, while physical science, mathematics, and engineering students are often isolated from these inspiring questions. This book was written to remove this isolation.

Secrets of the past hold the key to the future. Joseph Bridgeman is now a full-fledged member of the Continuum, a group of time travelers that heals the past in order to protect the future. When a rare antique dating from China's Tang dynasty is stolen, Joe jumps at the chance to retrieve it, but what should have been a simple auction turns into a dangerous new mission that takes him farther across time and space than he's ever traveled before. Besides his impromptu mission to ancient China, Joe must investigate a secretive organization that is squandering invaluable "focus objects" for the profligate thrills available only to those with almost limitless disposable wealth and no concern for the Continuum's agenda. Known as Extempero, the mysterious organization may even be in league with a rogue member of the Continuum whose own dubious motives have endangered Joe's prior time-travel missions. With help from an unexpected ally, Joe takes on a second mission, too. Flung back into the past yet again, caught up in a shocking natural disaster, and unsure who to trust, he faces a terrible choice with far-reaching consequences both for his own life, the aims of the Continuum, and the delicate future that hangs in the balance.
