Descendants of Joseph Phipps, Sr. (b. ca. 1730) whose family settled in Orange and Guilford Counties, North Carolina. The family can be traced back to Somersetshire and Tankersley, Yorkshire. Descendants later settled in Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and California.
