In leading edge practice, IT and bpr have a recursive relationship, as Figure 1 illustrates. Each is the key to thinking about the other. Thinking about information technology should be in terms of how it supports new or redesigned business processes, rather than business functions or other organizational entities. And thinking about business processes and process improvements should be in terms of the capabilities informationtechnology can provide.
