Excerpt from The Midnight Cry God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion forever and even - Amen. He will come again to our world in His human nature, on His great white throne, to raise the dead, and to pass sentence on all the wicked, and to take all 'his own great cloud Of witnesses home to the mansions of glory; He is always in the midst of His true churches or candlesticks, and holds the stars or ministers in His right hand. The book con tains the things which John had seen in times gone by, the things which were then passing; and the things which were then in the future down to the end of the world. Excerpt from The Midnight Cry a Novel Some fifty years ago the traveller through the Genesee Valley - and there were many seeking farms on its fertile flats in those days - might have seen from the high land stage road between Canawagas and Mount Morris, in the wide lowland stretching far to the westward, a big stone chimney and the broad gable of a house, which, as one caught a glimpse of them through the hoary old pine trees, showed in striking contrast with the homes of the most prosperous farmers, even those who had been among the first to take up land on "the Phelps and Gorham Purchase." Excerpt from The Midnight Cry: Or the Consummation of All Things, as Shown by Fulfilled Prophecies and the "Signs of the Time" A prominent minister of this city said to me lately, that all the theological students at a lead ing seminary of learning, who candidly and with out prejudice, investigated the subject of the second advent of our Lord to the earth, reached the same conclusion - namely, that He will, and must come, before the millennium, and not at its close. This work gives a detailed history and defense of the Advent Movement of the 1840's known as Millerism, the movement from which the Seventh-day Adventist denomination sprang. The book is based on original sources, William Miller's correspondence, contemporaneous books, pamphlets, journals, newspapers. The first half is devoted to the history of the movement, and the second half to an examination of charges made against the Advent believers, such as that they wore ascension robes, that the Millerite preaching filled the asylums, and so forth.
