Winner of the Edgar Award for Young Adult Fiction! The other orphans say Margot is lucky. Lucky to survive the horrible accident that killed her family. Lucky to have her own room because she wakes up screaming every night. And finally, lucky to be chosen by a prestigious family to live at their remote country estate. But it wasn't luck that made the Suttons rescue Margot from her bleak existence at the group home. Margot was handpicked to be a companion to their silent, mysterious daughter, Agatha. At first, helping with Agatha--and getting to know her handsome younger brother--seems much better than the group home. But soon, the isolated house begins playing tricks on Margot’s mind, making her question everything she believes about the Suttons . . . and herself. Margot’s bad dreams may have stopped when she came to live with Agatha – but the real nightmare has just begun.

At Eastertime, the most important holiday in the Christian world, religious processions in many Latin American countries pass over ornate street "carpets" fashioned from colored sawdust, flowers and fruit. Children in Finland and Sweden dress as "Easter witches." In the Caribbean, those who swim on Good Friday risk bad luck. In the Philippines, some penitents volunteer to be crucified. In some European countries, Easter Monday is the day for dousing women with water. With 240 entries, this book explores these and scores of other unusual and sometimes bizarre international Holy Week customs, both sacred and secular, from pilgrimages to Jerusalem to classic seasonal films and television specials.

Edwardian cover girl and silent screen star Dorothy Gibson survived the Titanic, a disastrous marriage, even the horrors of a World War II concentration camp, but history didn't spare her. Randy Bryan Bigham reclaims the story of a life forgotten. Finding Dorothy, the first biography of model and actress Dorothy Gibson (1889-1946), provides an analysis of her work as the muse of artist Harrison Fisher, and offers a critique of her brief but successful career as one of the first leading ladies in American silent cinema. Dorothy Gibson's experiences in the 1912 sinking of the Titanic are related in detail as is the making of Saved From the Titanic, the first motion picture produced about the disaster, in which Dorothy herself starred. 6x9 Hardcover Dust Jacket 179 pp, 84 ill. Some people tell stories. Some people live them. This man did both. He charmed Air Force Generals and CEO’S of huge companies and just as often invited guys with no teeth to dinner. He loved life in spite of an atypical childhood and flew his little Piper Cub (with only a watch and a ruler for instruments) until he was 83years old. He had many incidents flying into major airports, got asked to never come back to Sea-Tac Airport, dropped rocks on our high mountain lakes to see if the ice was solid enough on which to land. He had an amazing sense of humor and could turn any situation into a pun or story. (As you will see.)
