Robert Johnson (1644?-1733) patented land in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, in 1681. He married twice and named eleven children in his will. His great great grandson, Laban Johnson, was born in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, in 1788. He married Sarah Cook in 1809. They had five children, 1811-1826. They were members of the Western Branch Monthly Meeting of Friends in Nansemond County, Virginia. He died in the latter part of 1826 or in January, 1827. Sarah and her children migrated to Henry County, Indiana, in 1833, where they joined the Milford Friends Meeting. She moved to Clinton County, Indiana, in 1849, with her son, Robert. She died in 1855. Descendants listed lived in Indiana and elsewhere.

Robert Johnson, planter, was probably born in James City County, Virginia, in 1643, probably the grandson of John Johnson (ca. 1590- 1636), who immigrated to Virginia in 1616. He married 1) Katherine Allen, ca. 1662. They had five children, ca. 1663-1674. He and his wife, Ann, were married ca. 1693. They had nine children, ca. 1694-1710. His will was probated in 1733. Descendants lived in Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, Indiana, and elsewhere.
