He was the son of Hans Henry Jensen (born 13 August 1830 in Prussia) and Magdalena Hamann. John married Ann Reimers 13 May 1899 in Iowa. They lived in Pipestone Co., Minnesota and were the parents of eight children. Descendants lived in Iowa, Minnesota, Arkansas and elsewhere.
