This work explores a new sector: the jazz accordion. The accordion was just considered as a popular music instrument for many years and only recently it has got a -cultured- instrument, thanks to the institution in the Conservatory. In fact, thanks to its own expressive power and versatility, this instrument is played in every musical context: jazz, popular and classical music. The book is composed by 9 chapter and 240 pages and it's divided into three parts. The first one deals with the basic technique, by some articulation exercises on scales, arpeggios, finger independence, the thumb passage. The second section is about several topics in the functional harmony using the seventh chords in all theirs positions, the practice of II-V-I cadence, voicings, modes, peculiar scales. The last section consists of creative application to the learnt technical and theoretical knowledge, making the right performance and improvisation on standard jazz and blues.

This work wants to explore a relatively new field, that is, that of the jazz accordion.
