It is the purpose of this publication to present in a form as condensed as is feasible an annotated bibliography of the hessian fly, Phytophaga destructor (Say), with special reference to the literature relating to the insect, within its areas of distribution in North America north of Mexico, to June 30, 1933.

The object of this publication is to bring together, in so far as possible, in the case of each species attacking the hessian fly, a complete bibliography and review of the literature, a description that will make it possible to recognize the species, a list of its synonyms, and a short outline of what is known regarding its hosts, life history, and distribution.
