When Septimus inherits a magical, treasure-finding Hairy Hand from his uncle, life suddenly becomes a lot more exciting - and dangerous! Septimus feels out-of-place in his village where everyone else his age is called Darg or Smerg or Blaarg. Good, honest names that sound like you are have just swallowed something pointy or are sneezing into custard. Even his parents make him feel like a complete stranger. Especially his parents. Then he inherits something strange and frightening from his uncle. A Hairy Hand. It has the magical ability to find buried treasure which suits his parents (thieves by trade) down to the ground. However, instead of making his life better, it suddenly gets a lot more dangerous. So, it is up to Sept to find out what else the Hand knows and put things right.

"Hairy Arms and Unibrows" is a coming of age story of Aida Radfar, the mastermind behind The Thread Bar, Los Angeles's successful eyebrow studio. Growing up was beyond difficult for Aida, for many reasons. She spent most of her childhood resembling a boy because her mother had a clever idea of giving her a boy's haircut to avoid the agony of combing through her unruly hair. In addition, growing up with the hairiest arms in school and having a unibrow didn't help either. She was taunted and physically bullied by her classmates, overcoming the odds for being now secure with her hairiness, and using it as weapon to contribute to her success. Being who she is today, came with a price. She had a few brushes with bankruptcy thanks to her lightening speed hair growth, but throughout the years, she researched economic and efficient ways of keeping her hair on the down low. Being hairy is a huge part of her life and instead of writing a thesis on it, she decided to share her heroic and inspiring story-wax, tweezers, razors, thread and all.

The Fantastic Other is a carefully assembled collection of essays on the increasingly significant question of alterity in modern fantasy, the ways in which the understanding and construction of the Other shapes both our art and our imagination. The collection takes a unique perspective, seeing alterity not merely as a social issue but as a biological one. Our fifteen essays cover the problems posed by the Other, which, after all, go well beyond the bounds of any single critical perspective. With this in mind, we have selected studies to show how insights from deconstruction, Marxism, feminism, and Freudian, Jungian and evolutionary psychology help us understand an issue so central to the act of reading.

Set in the world of BAD TASTE IN BOYS, teenage zombie assasin Kate Grable is back to take on the horrors of high school--perfect for fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Veronica Mars. Kate Grable is geeked out to shadow the county medical examiner as part of her school's premed program. But after he's arrested for murder, she's left with the bodies. And when Kate's brother, Jonah, stumbles upon a dead gamer girl, Kate realizes that the zombie epidemic she cured last fall was only the beginning of the weirdness taking over her town. Someone—or something—is murdering kids. Something really hairy. And strong. Possibly with claws. Could it be werewolves, like Jonah and his dorktastic friends think? Kate's supposed to be a butt-kicking, zombie-killing genius . . . but if she can't figure out what's behind the freakish attacks, the victims—or what's left of them—are going to keep piling up. "What's not to love?"--Kirkus Reviews "Kate combines the smarts of Veronica Mars with the attitude of Buffy . . . a fast-paced read."--School Library Journal "Entirely enjoyable."--Publishers Weekly
