The United States may have a puritanical past, but the 21st century is wide open to diverse gender expression and romance. Good Sex is the manifesto—or Manisexto, if you will—for this cultural revolution. Same-sex marriage is legal, the #MeToo movement has exploded, colleges nationwide now teach consent-based sexual health, the media celebrates body positivity, and transgender visibility has become mainstream. Defining "good sex" as both ethical and pleasurable, Catherine M. Roach features such topics as equity, intersectionality, and shared pleasure while offering a lively discussion that is inclusively feminist, queer-friendly, and sex-positive without being divisive. An accessible guidebook, Good Sex provides hope that America's sexual, gender, and racial injustices can be addressed together. After all, this new gender and sexual revolution strengthens the pursuit of happiness and love. Welcome to the revolution!

This book aims to equip mental health professionals to integrate discussions of sexual identity, health, wellness, and intimacy into the scope of their client’s mental health, ensuring they are well-prepared to incorporate sexual functioning into core assessment, interventions, and treatment. We exist in societies that are scared to discuss sexual health, identity, and relationships, and the stigma surrounding these topics saturates our mental health professions. Sex, intimacy, and sexual identity have historically been relegated as “specialized” topics when training new clinicians, which has led to professionals feeling unable and unskilled to speak about a core part of their client’s psychological, biological, physical, and relational health. Viewing this as a social justice issue, this book addresses a movement in the counseling field to incorporate sexual health into therapy as well as providing new ways of foundational teaching. Chapters begin exploring the history of sex therapy and the problems that have previously been addressed as concerns for the sex therapy field only, before discussing issues surrounding transference and countertransference. Encouraging self-reflection regarding values, bias, and attitudes related to topics of sexuality, the book moves to discussing strategies and integrative approaches to co-occurring conditions, such as trauma, diagnosis of sexual difficulties, stigma and societal messages, biopsychosocial treatment, networking, and coordination of care and spiritual health and healing. Including journaling exercises, assessment tools and case studies of how to weave approaches addressing sexual concerns into practice, this book will provide graduate courses and continuing education instructors with the core material to assist the training and development of future and established professionals.

In the late 20th century, the world experienced a sexual revolution that forever altered the ways we talk about, think about, and engage in sexual activities and relationships. That period shattered traditional norms and introduced the mainstream to the concept that sexuality could be openly discussed, taught, and celebrated. It was a monumental cultural shift that set the stage for the various ways we understand human sexuality today. But we are on the brink of another monumental shift—welcome to Sexual Revolution 2.0. This book, "Sexual Revolution 2.0: Reconfiguring Norms in the Age of Digital Intimacy," aims to offer an authoritative account of how technology, social change, and evolving norms are heralding a new phase in the sexual revolution. One that's taking place not in secretive underground clubs or isolated academic settings but within the highly accessible landscape of the Internet, emerging technologies, and social media platforms. To say we live in interesting times is a monumental understatement. The second decade of the 21st century has brought forth an explosion of dialogue around sexuality, and with it, dramatic changes in attitudes and behaviors. The global conversation around issues such as consent, gender identity, and sexual orientation is richer and more nuanced than ever before. Technology has both complicated these conversations and provided new solutions. Digital platforms have given rise to new forms of relationships, from online dating to long-distance interactive sexual experiences. The industry of "sextech" is burgeoning, challenging taboos and reshaping the very mechanics of sexual pleasure. In the following chapters, you will be introduced to various facets of this new revolution.
