Making up approximately 20 percent of South India's Protestants, Pentecostals are an influential part of India's Christian culture, yet there is a distinct lack of scholarly focus on this increasingly large group. This careful, well-informed study by Michael Bergunder ably fills that gap. After a brief historical introduction to the worldwide growth of Pentecostalism, Bergunder delves into the history of the South Indian Pentecostal movement in the first section. The second section gives a systematic profile of the current movement in South India, based on a wide range of source materials and on formal interviews with nearly two hundred leading pastors and evangelists. Bergunder finishes his work with prospects for the future. Three appendixes and an extended bibliography offer ample ground for further research.

B. B. Warfield ranks among America’s greatest theologians and Reformed theology’s most ardent defenders. As a prolific writer and accomplished scholar, Warfield defended Reformed confessionalism against the extremes of nineteenth century modernist and revivalist theology, and defined the parameters of theological method for the twentieth century. The 10-volume B. B. Warfield Collection includes Warfield’s works on biblical inspiration and authority, textual criticism, Calvinism, biblical theology, and Christian perfectionism. The B. B. Warfield Collection from Christian Classics Reproductions includes the entire 10-volume Works of Benjamin B. Warfield, published in the decade following Warfield’s death in 1921, plus ten additional volumes which contain books, articles, and lectures not found in the original ten volumes. The entire 10-volume B. B. Warfield Collection is fully searchable and easily accessible. The Scripture references in Warfield’s books are there to check in your favorite Bible translations and Greek texts, and important theological concepts are linked to dictionaries, encyclopedias, and the wealth of resources at your fingertips.

The history of the peace movement in the United States was one of dramatic change: in the mid-IKWs it consisted of a few provincial societies; by 1912 it had become eminently respectable and listed among its members an impressive number of the nation's leaders; by 1918 it was once again weak and remote from those who formulated national policy. Along with these fluctuations went equally substantial changes of leadership and purpose that, as C. Roland Marchand emphasizes, reflected the motives of the various reform groups that successively joined and dominated the movement. Most of those who joined were not devoted solely to the cause of world peace, but saw in the programs of the movement a chance for the fulfillment of their own mare immediately relevant goals. Consequently the story of the peace movement reflects the concerns of such groups as the international lawyers who wanted a world court of arbitration as an alternative to war, the business leaders who believed that international economic stability would be endangered by war, and the labor unions who felt that the working class suffered most in war.
