Caleb Barrett (1785-1869) was born in New Jersey. He married Rachel Cooper (b. ca. 1793), daughter of Gabriel Cooper and Elizabeth Hoppock, in 1810 in the vicinity of Trenton, N.J. Sometime between 1815 and 1820 Caleb moved his family to Augusta Twp., Northumberland Co., Pa. John Hoppock was a resident of Amwell Twp., Hunterdon Co., New Jersey at the time he died intestate, prior to 1816. The earliest proven Cooper ancestor was Gabriel Cooper (ca. 1763- 1817), who married Elizabeth Hoppock.
