Identifies, measures and compares public awareness and perceptions of the EU within the Asia-Pacific region and deals with the public perception of the EU outside the Union and the role of the media in shaping such perceptions.

Since the mid-1990s, the European Union has defined the Asia Pacific as one of its key strategic targets on its ambitious road towards a global power. Contemporary trade policy is increasingly framed in geo-strategic terms. But how much of that rhetoric is reflected in actual policy choices by the EU or its trading partners?
