After an injury forces Ria off the diving team, an unexpected friendship with Cotton, a guy on the autism spectrum, helps her come to terms with the abusive relationship she’s been in with her former coach. Ria Williams was an elite diver on track for the Olympics. As someone who struggled in school, largely due to her ADHD, diving was the one place Ria could shine. But while her parents were focused on the trophies, no one noticed how Coach Benny’s strict rules and punishments controlled every aspect of Ria’s life. The harder he was on her, the sharper her focus. The bigger the bruise, the better the dive. Until a freak accident at a meet changes everything. Just like that, Ria is handed back her life, free of Benny. To fill her now empty and aimless days, Ria rekindles a friendship with Cotton, a guy she used to know back in elementary school. With Cotton, she’s able to open up about what Benny would do to her, and through Cotton’s eyes, Ria is able to see it for what it was: abuse. Then Benny returns, offering Ria a second chance with a life-changing diving opportunity. But it’s not hers alone—Benny’s coaching comes with it. The thought of being back under his control seems impossible to bear, but so does walking away. How do you separate the impossible from possible when the one thing you love is so tangled up in the thing you fear most?

Lifelong entrepreneur Brian Dovey offers readers a personal, humorous, story-driven compendium of practical advice for navigating the risky entrepreneurial journey. The Idea Is the Easy Part counters widespread myths of failure and success with lessons learned from Dovey’s decades of hands-on experience. Today’s entrepreneurs can earn celebrity and billionaire status. Our books, movies, and TV shows seem to say that with a big idea and a jazzy elevator pitch, anyone can quickly earn funding for their own startups and achieve massive financial success. In these stories, a brilliant initial idea—and the funding you’ll easily acquire—are all you need. The reality, however, is vastly different. Getting funding is incredibly hard, and success depends on many factors, strategies, and decisions. The idea, as it turns out, is the easy part. Between serving as the president of the company that developed the groundbreaking EpiPen, bringing entrepreneurship to a Fortune 500 company as president, working in venture capitalism for several decades, and being involved in the development of nearly 300 startups, Brian Dovey was well acquainted with entrepreneurship—its reality as well as its mythology. In The Idea Is the Easy Part, Dovey busts common myths about entrepreneurship and lays out an enthusiastic but realistic guidebook for aspiring entrepreneurs to make better decisions at every stage of the entrepreneurial process. For those seduced by the myths of fame and fortune, as well as for those who don’t realize what they’re missing out on, The Idea Is the Easy Part is a reliable guide to navigating the entrepreneurial waters, replacing today’s misleading notions with objective and actionable advice.

Mex., to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, and to the Secretary of the Interior, as follows: On my arrival tit this place, I entered my thirty-third Indian reservation, in all of which I have studied to the best of my ability the question of Indian education. Not a little time has been spent in each of the larger training schools, but much more time face to face with the great needs of the reservations, which present the primary phases of the Indian educational problem. As the result, some ideas held tentatively at first have been settling into clearer and more decided convictions. Having thus studied this problem in llicfield, in personal contact with the living issues, I respectfully avail myself of the advisory functions of my ofliee, and speak with greater confidence upon some matters than heretofore I have done. When I left Washington the attention of the office was much directed to the enlargement of the great training schools--(, 'arlisle, Haskell, Genoa, and C'hilocco, and to the building of another such at Pierre. S. Dak. I tacitly assented to the policy, though not without grave doubts as to its wisdom, at this time. It is not from lack of faith in those schools, for I have the fullest confidence, but from a growing conviction that the present most important and urgent work is in reservation schools, which greatly need to be enlarged and multiplied, and which, I fear, will be hindered, and possibly prevented, by the absorption of so much of the limited appropriations granted by Congress, for those large schools. The time has come to build more at the base and less at the apex. The.

Cantelon, a veteran pastor, broadcaster, and author draws from years of interaction and counselling with scores of couples, both married and about to be married, divorced or divorcing, and recently bereaved. He reflects on some of the most common components of relational stress that contribute to the fracturing of families and marriage. The book is not a trouble shooting exercise, however, but a positive coaching manual focused on the husband's role and responsibilities in caring for and loving his wife for a happy and successful marriage. He is aware that even though his target audience is men many of those who purchase and read the book will be women. Thus much of his work has a general appeal to both husbands and wives. His motivation is to help stem the tide of divorce which has reached an almost 50% level in western culture. He believes that everyone, regardless of religion or ideology, is looking for a loving relationship that lasts. In that spirit "e;Sex is the Easy Part"e; looks to provide hope for those seeking sustainable love.

Sherri, a popular high school sophomore and newly selected member of her prestigious high school drill team, loses everything in an instant of careless teenage driving. She is left in a coma with little hope of ever walking again. God's Miracles Within these pages Sherri describes her recovery and the miracle of growing up a second time. For Sherri, LEARNING TO WALK AGAIN WAS THE "EASY" PART. Learning to eat, to talk, to think, to make decisions and friends again were battles she faced every day during her recovery. Sherri's journey towards acceptance of her changed self was much more difficult-slow, frustrating, and painful-than her physical recovery. Her loving family, a dedicated psychologist friend, and talented medical and rehabilitative staffs, supported Sherri as she grew up a second time. At the heart of Sherri's healing was her deepening faith and trust in God. This is the story of her transformation from feeling anger at Him for letting the accident happen to her recognition of God's presence in her life and His unconditional love for her. It is this faith that allows Sherri to bury the "old Sherri" and begin a new chapter in her life. This autobiography, written by Sherri from her mother's diary and interviews with those who helped her grow up a second time, is a testimony to the ability of the human spirit to survive and overcome severe physical and mental disability. Individuals, families, and book clubs who read this story will be inspired by Sherri's courage, the commitment of her family, friends and medical providers to her recovery; her rediscovery of God; and her ultimate acceptance of herself. Linear Optimization and Dualiyy: A Modern Exposition departs from convention in significant ways. Standard linear programming textbooks present the material in the order in which it was discovered. Duality is treated as a difficult add-on after coverage of formulation, the simplex method, and polyhedral theory. Students end up without knowing duality in their bones. This text brings in duality in Chapter 1 and carries duality all the way through the exposition. Chapter 1 gives a general definition of duality that shows the dual aspects of a matrix as a column of rows and a row of columns. The proof of weak duality in Chapter 2 is shown via the Lagrangian, which relies on matrix duality. The first three LP formulation examples in Chapter 3 are classic primal-dual pairs including the diet problem and 2-person zero sum games. For many engineering students, optimization is their first immersion in rigorous mathematics. Conventional texts assume a level of mathematical sophistication they don’t have. This text embeds dozens of reading tips and hundreds of answered questions to guide such students. Features Emphasis on duality throughout Practical tips for modeling and computation Coverage of computational complexity and data structures Exercises and problems based on the learning theory concept of the zone of proximal development Guidance for the mathematically unsophisticated reader About the Author Craig A. Tovey is a professor in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Tovey received an AB from Harvard College, an MS in computer science and a PhD in operations research from Stanford University. His principal activities are in operations research and its interdisciplinary applications. He received a Presidential Young Investigator Award and the Jacob Wolfowitz Prize for research in heuristics.
