The Eagle who thought he was a chicken began as an impromptu story told to a group of school-age summer campers. It was so well received by the youth and adults that my friends urged me to put it into writing. After a stormy night, a farmer, searching for his lost calf, finds a baby eagle that has been blown out of its nest. He takes it home and raises it with his chickens. There was usually great peace at the top of Eagle Crest Mountain, that is until King Elijah eagle grew old and the wicked eagles took over! The wicked eagles heard the news that King Elijah eagle had a new eagle egg that was about to be hatched and would become the new king of eagles on Eagle Crest Mountain. The wicked eagles made war with the good eagles to try and find the egg to destroy it before it was hatched and made king.
