Jacob Barrickman was born in 1763 in Frederick County, Maryland, a son of Peter Bargman, who had emigrated in 1749/50 from the Palatinate in Germany. He served in the Revolutionary War on the Pennsylvania frontiers. He married Jane Swan, daughter of Hugh and Martha Swan, in 1784 at Newport, Kentucky. They had eleven children, 1785-1813. the family migrated from Campbell County, Kentucky, to Franklin County, Indiana, in 1812. He died in 1842. His son, Jacob Barickman was born in 1799 in Campbell County. He married Jennet Hannah Templeton, daughter of Robert and Hannah Templeton, in 1820. They had ten children, 1822-1839. He died at the home of his daughter, Nancy Barickman Jenkins, in 1875. Descendants listed lived in Indiana, Illinois, and elswhere.
