Collection of the Cagle land grants collected from the state archives of North Carolina for the period between 1767-1918. Records of members of the Cagle family and their land holdings in the state of North Carolina are included and often copied in this material.

The opening chapters of this encyclopedic treatment deal with the Newberry County's formation, early settlers, soldiers, notable citizens, government institutions, and social and economic development, while later chapters are given over to biographies, cemetery inscriptions, family reminiscences and folklore.
