Letters written by members of Myrick-Buckland family as they moved from Westport, New York to the Dakota Territory, Vermont and Canada. Barnabas Myrick (1795-1844) died in Westport, Essex County, New York. He was married to Lovina Bigelow (1800-1858) and had three children.

In the 1840s, La Crosse, Wisconsin, was barely more than a trading post nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River. But by 1900 the sleepy frontier town had become a thriving city.
