Ici il signifie saurer, debarrasser quelqu'un de (to save), verbe dont le participe present ( saving) servant d'adjectif se prend quelquefois en mauvaise part. Ex. On dit essayer a faire une boite, parce que le sens se rapporte davantage au but qu'aux efforts; mais on dit essayer de lerer une pierre, parce que, dans cette locution, on veut exprimer plutot les efforts que...
