Este libro propone un modelo de articulación de la ciencia del derecho civil (zivilistische Rechtswissenschaft) con la realidad social, y es una de las pocas obras en español que habla sobre el derecho privado alemán y europeo. Se trata de un compendio de ponencias presentadas ante el Doctorado en Derecho de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, en el marco del Seminario de Derecho Civil. Los temas principales de la obra son la constitucionalización del derecho privado alemán mediante los derechos fundamentales, la responsabilidad del vendedor por defectos de la cosa vendida, las disposiciones de la Directiva Europea de la Compraventa de Bienes de Consumo y su transposición al derecho alemán, la carga de inspección y de notificación de los comerciantes, y el derecho de sociedades.

Philosophical realism has taken a number of different forms, each applied to different topics and set against different forms of idealism and subjectivism.
