"Di Cesare's view of life was forever changed, however, by a series of horrifying events in and around his dorm room: C2D1 of Erie Hall. From early February through late April of 1985, he and his college friends would endure what is now called "The C2D1 Haunting." Apparitions sighted, strange voices heard, moving objects witnessed, and physical attacks all became part of the ordeal shared by Chris--who quickly became the focal point of the haunting--and several of his college classmates. ... Surviving Evidence provides the most in-depth look at the legendary C2D1 Haunting from the person at its center. Di Cesare details the often extreme reactions --both positive and negative--that he and his fellow college mates experienced due to strange events that they were not prepared for. This memoir raises as many questions as it tries to answer. Historic relevancy, individual morality and application of the paranormal experience in relation to free will are all deftly addressed in the context of the ten-week haunting by the person who witnessed it first-hand-- and survived it"--Cover, P. [4].

In June of 2015 Dan realized a lifelong dream. The infamous Hinsdale House, site of the infestation and structural exorcism became available for purchase. Wasting no time, he made an offer that was accepted and became the owner. Klaes immediately began renovations to stabilize the house, which continues to this day. Shortly afterward he opened the location for paranormal research and has hosted local, national and international paranormal teams. Recently Dan was contacted by producers from Destination America and contracted the house to be featured on the hit TV series Paranormal Lockdown featuring Nick Groff and Katrina Wiedman. The Episode was the highest viewed episode of the series. Such was the phenomena that after Nick left both EVP and Geobox evidence called for his return to the house. Nick and Katrina later returned to film a Halloween special at the house that was featured on TLC. The house was also the basis for A Haunting on Discovery Channel.

This book makes an important contribution to cultural analysis by opening up the work of two canonical authors to issues of exile and migration. Barbara Straumann's close reading of selected films and literary texts focuses on Speak, Memory, Lolita, The Real Life of Sebastian Knight, Suspicion, North by Northwest and Shadow of a Doubt and explores the connections between language, imagination and exile. Invoking psychoanalysis as the principal discourse of dislocation, the book not only uses concepts such as 'screen memory', 'family romance', 'fantasy' and 'the uncanny' as hermeneutic foils, it also argues that, in their own ways, the arch-parodists Hitchcock and Nabokov are remarkably in tune with the images and tropes developed by Freud.

A disturbing though often hilarious memoir, told uniquely through the eyes of a young child. This is a coming-of-age story of a boy, growing up in 1960s England. As shocking as it is, this is a story of survival and a boy's desperate attempts to save his mother from the madness and the horror. "Mitchell's overview of then rundown Portsmouth, England in the 1960s shocks as he deftly bypasses all the clichéd elements of the 60s via gruesome images of destitution, a cast of unbelievably crazy misfits and the smells, local language, and music of a bleak and impoverished part of England. It's a wakeup call that not everyone experienced the 'summers of love.' The most amazing aspect of the book is his ability to re-capture his own voice at ages 5, 7, 8 and 13. John Mitchell's debut memoir dazzles. It's original, clever, and amid all the horror, funny." -- IndieReader "The title suggests a ghost story, but a boy witnessing firsthand the onset and evolution of a mental breakdown is as bloodcurdling as anything supernatural, perhaps more so. A startling, sometimes-chilling tale of mental illness and familial abuse." -- Kirkus Reviews "The Boy who Lived with Ghosts is a brilliant read. John's story triggered a lot of emotions for me when I was reading and it brought me close to tears...I think it's simply brilliant, I am going to recommend this book to you because it offers an insight into John's heart-breaking childhood which will make you appreciate all that you have a lot more, The Boy who Lived with Ghosts is definitely a worthwhile read." -- Online Book Club
